Room 511, Friday Evening [Oct. 6th, 2006|09:07 pm]
[Tags|, ]
[Current Mood | cheerful]

Dean was checking himself out in the mirror, making sure all the creases in his suit were smooth and his tie was straight and his hair was appropriately slicked. In other words, all the stuff his mother would have done had he been at home. He was pretty satisfied, although he had to admit he wasn't quite sure what he was supposed to be looking for.

He set Lyra's corsage on his desk. The best thing about going to Homecoming with your roommate? You didn't have to go anywhere to pick her up.

[[open, but obviously for the roomie/date in particular...]]

Room 511, Saturday Morning [Sep. 30th, 2006|10:19 am]
[Current Mood | ...emo.]
[Current Music |Tears in Heaven -- Eric Clapton]

Dean was curled up on his bed, or at least as curled-up as he could get, staring at the wall. Depressing music flooded the room from his stereo, and he clutched a picture of Rory, the edges wet and ragged from his sweaty hands. He was hopeless. Behind in classes (he hadn't even managed to remember to go get the work he missed from Mr. Winchester, that's how dumb he was), homesick (that week in Stars Hollow had only made it all worse), lonely, lost without his Rory (who no doubt thought he was insane or a big fat liar). He screwed everything up. Everything. He shouldn't be allowed to live. Wallowing in his pain and torment was clearly the only answer.

He may have groaned depressed-ly from time to time, or flailed weakly. He didn't know. Or care. About anything. What was the point?

[[ooc: Definitely open, as if anyone would really want to subject themselves to Dean's Emo...]]

Room 511, Early Wednesday Afternoon [Sep. 27th, 2006|05:48 am]
[Current Mood |busy]

Dean lugged his suitcase into the room with a grunt, tossing it down on his bed and immediately starting to unpack. He was definitely glad that he'd gotten to see his family and everything, even if his cousin's wedding had been ridiculously boring, but he really hadn't planned on being kept away from school for so long. Dean had a whole week and a half of schoolwork and notes and...activities or whatever to catch up on, and he'd have to run around like a headless chicken trying to get it all sorted out.

As he shoved freshly washed clothes (another perk of going home for a while) into drawers, he realized he was going to have to hurry to make it to Hunting on time.

[Current Mood | rushed]

Dean had had another fairly uneventful week. Well, by Fandom standards anyway. History on Monday resulted in the formulation of a study group, which was good, because right now Dean was struggling through his scribbled notes (the ones that didn't say "SAND: YES PLZ!!!!") and it wasn't looking too good. Literature on Tuesday had been much better, even if he hadn't exactly waxed lyrical about the nusery rhymes. Hunting...now there was an event. The first practical. Dean was greatful Dawn had left those books for him with Lyra, even if they didn't end up doing him all that much good yet. He and Hermione had really only needed the information from the first class.

Yesterday was fitness tests, and though Dean had made it through everything, he knew he could be in better shape. Right, more running, then. Sprints, if he could manage it.

After making a last futile addition to his history notes, Dean stuffed them in his bag, along with his book for Lit. and some internet printouts about ghosts. He grabbed the notepad on his desk and wrote a quick note to Lyra:

Hey Lyra,

Had to go home for a cousin's wedding, which I totally forgot about until my parents called the other day to arrange everything. Let me know if I miss anything important! I'll catch up with teachers and stuff when I get back. Enjoy having the room to yourself!

Thanks,
Dean

[[ooc: I've got a flight to catch to London today, and I'm not sure what the internet situation will be when I get there! I should be back to regular availability in no more than a week, so Dean'll be back then!]]

Room 511, Friday Night [Sep. 9th, 2006|01:36 am]
[Tags|, , , , , , , , , ]
[Current Mood | relaxed]
[Current Music |Nick Drake -- Man In a Shed]

Dean was pretty intent on keeping things low-key after his first week of class. World History on Monday had been fun even if he wasn't a master notetaker, plus he shared the class with Sam, Lyra, and Evie, which was an added bonus. Tuesday was Literature in Action, and though there wasn't much action yet, Dean was definitely looking forward to it. Rory, Alec, Layla, and Dawn were all in that one, too, so Dean had lots of study and note resources. Nice. Speaking of which, he apparently had a vast network of people who could help him with Hunting 101. Definitely a good thing, considering he signed up thinking it would be game hunting and not ghost hunting. He talked with Alec and Sam during class, which was good, because otherwise he may have panicked. There were actually going to be hunting practicals? Ouch.

Wednesday night in the second floor common room, Dean'd managed to be pretty social, which was good. He'd met Vladdie and talked to Rory, Dawn had offered to lend him some books to help him catch up in Hunting, he'd highly confused Billy about the double thing, and probably Luke, too, though Alec was there to help sort it out. He also met Bridge, who had apparently never heard The Lumberjack Song, and caught up with Alanna, who hopefully wouldn't die in December. The Other Dean offered him help in Hunting, too, and could also apparently read him weirdly well because of the whole looks-like-Sam thing, which luckily wasn't really a problem.

Thursday was a much-needed day of rest, and then earlier today Dean had Energy and Fitness, which looked like it was going to be a little less like Gym than he originally thought. But that was pretty much par for the course these days.

So now he was leaning back in his desk chair, feet propped up on his desk, writing a letter home while he listened to Nick Drake, the door propped open invitingly.

Room 511, Sunday Night [Sep. 3rd, 2006|10:04 pm]
[Tags|, , , , ]

Dean had received his schedule earlier and was still celebrating getting into all the classes he wanted. It was his last night of freedom, and part of him thought he should be out being social, but part of him thought just hanging in his room with the door propped open, relaxing, was the best bet. It was nice not to be constantly shocked by revelations regarding hookers and even more people who thought he was Sam. Not that either of those things were really all that bad.

He taped a copy of his schedule over his desk... )

He could definitely deal with only two morning classes. And he was still ecstatic about the whole no-math-necessary thing. Awesome.

Dean reflects on the week so far... )

And now it was Friday, and Dean definitely didn't want to miss the basketball game, so he figured he'd better head on down to the gym to see it.

Room 511, Monday Afternoon/Evening [Aug. 28th, 2006|03:04 pm]

[Current Mood | content]

Dean had certainly had an interesting first day at Fandom High. If "interesting" was even the right word to use, which he doubted. More like "freakish" or "crazy", and yeah, maybe "exciting", too. Almost everyone he'd seen had thought he was someone else somehow, whether because he was named Dean or because he looked like Sam.

He'd met his Big Brother, Walter, who had already proved to be pretty helpful. Then of course there was the Other Dean, who seemed really cool and also really helpful about the whole apparent-double thing. Also mistaking him for Sam was Dawn, Sam's roommate, who was cute and nice despite Dean possibly embarrassing both of them way more than was necessary. For a change of pace, he was also mistaken for the Other Dean by another new girl, Layla. Who was also apparently Dean's next-door neighbor. Which he was maybe really happy about, even if she did freak him out re: the co-ed rooming situation. More embarrassment there, too. He was going to have work on his people-skills, at least where girls were concerned.

While attempting to find his elusive (female!) roommate Lyra, Dean also managed to mistake Alec for the Other Dean, although he got to hear about clones and mummies, so he didn't feel so bad about it. He also finally saw Rory, after hearing that she was around. Which was actually the most awkward thing of all, because apparently she was older and different from the Rory he was expecting, and that was just all kinds of wrong. So he tried not to think about how weird this was going to be and how sad he'd probably end up.

And then of course there was Sam, who really did look exactly like Dean. Except a little younger and therefore a little shorter. And with really bad hair. He had a kind of an attitude on him, but he turned out to be pretty cool in the end. Plus, Dean was officially more curious than he should be about the Winchesters in general, and planned to get their story from one or both of them eventually.

He now sat in his room, the door propped open and The Sugarplastic playing on his stereo, trying to decide what of all this he could believably tell his family, and what he should conveniently leave out of his first letter.

[[ooc: Open to anyone! Especially the roomie/neighbors...]]

Arrival [Aug. 27th, 2006|11:09 am]
[Tags|]
[Current Mood | anxious]

Dean stood in front of the dorms, room assignment in hand, head spinning. He'd only said goodbye to his parents and his little sister earlier that morning, but Stars Hollow and everyone there already felt a lifetime away. Weapons check was part of the sign-up process? There were co-ed dorm rooms? And not only did they exist, but he was actually in one? Not to mention all the decidedly freakish people he'd seen walking around campus. Oh, this was all either going to be very, very good, or very, very bad.

So it looked like he should drop his stuff off and go to the front lawn to...mingle. That, he could manage.
